Time-Optimal Transfer of Quantum State Achieved by ITMO Physicists
Efficient control of interconnected qubits is one of the most frequent hurdles for today’s quantum computer developers. Scientists from ITMO University and the London Institute for Mathematical Sciences have proposed an elegant solution to the issue: they have calculated the fastest way to transfer a quantum state over a large chain of qubits. The study is supported by the Russian Science Foundation and published in Physical Review Letters.

ITMO Scientists Propose Systems With Unique Interaction Between Photons and Mechanical Motion of Atoms
The researchers managed to demonstrate that such systems possess the features of non-typical phase transitions, nonstandard symmetry, and its spontaneous breaking in a strong optomechanical interaction regime. This invention may potentially help scientists develop memory chips for future quantum computers.

Scientists from ITMO University Describe and Emulate New Quantum State of Entangled Photons
A research team from ITMO University, with the help of their colleagues from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and Politecnico di Torino, has predicted a novel type of topological quantum state of two photons and proved their predictions experimentally. The method developed by the researchers relies on the analogy: instead of expensive experiments with quantum structures of two or more entangled photons, they have used resonant electric circuits that can be described by similar equations. The obtained results can be useful for the creation of optical chips and quantum computers without the need for expensive experiments. The research was supported by grants from the Russian Science Foundation and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research. The research was published in Nature Communications.
