  • ITMO and St. Petersburg School Launch Nanotechnologies Lab

    Lyceum No. 150 in the Kalininsky District of St. Petersburg is now home to the new Nanotechnologies Laboratory, launched in collaboration with ITMO’s International Laboratory “Hybrid Nanostructures for Biomedicine.” At the lab, senior students will have advanced classes in physics, chemistry, and biology, learning to synthesize several types of nanoparticles. Students will then present their work at a summer school at ITMO, with members of the best teams gaining an additional five points to their Unified State Exam scores when applying to the university.

    Daria Kozlova, ITMO’s First Vice Rector, believes that businesses should engage in the educational process at universities, share their knowledge, and contribute resources to the training of high-profile IT specialists. That was the view she expressed at the recent Eastern Economic Forum during the discussion The Digital Transformation of Public Administration and the Data Economy: Friend or Foe?. Such specialists will also be able to engage in the new national project Data Economics and Digital Transformation of the Country that aims to create a domestic data market.

  • ITMO Opens Lab to Train AI Infosecurity Experts

    Over last year alone, the demand for information security experts in AI grew by 30%. In parallel to this growing demand, there is also a lack of professionals with the necessary qualifications for this field on the market. One of the reasons for it is that no one trains such specialists. In response to that, ITMO and the company Raft launched a research laboratory called LLM Security Lab that is meant to teach students to work in the field of infosec for LLM and AI business solutions.

  • ITMO & Yandex Education Launch Free Intensive Course in IT for Students

    A two-week intensive study camp in industrial software development will be held in St. Petersburg from June 24 to July 6. At lectures delivered by experts from ITMO and Yandex Education, participants will delve into the architecture and infrastructure of highload systems, information security, and DevOps. Each participant will work on tasks tailored to their level and receive a certificate of completion upon successfully solving the final case. Applications are accepted until May 1.

  • Art Digitalization: 3D Exhibition by ITMO University and the Center of Mikhail Shemyakin

    Students from ITMO University, in collaboration with the Center of Mikhail Shemyakin, created and launched a large-scale interactive 3D display titled Mikhail Shemyakin: Self-Portraits celebrating the works of artist and sculptor Mikhail Shemyakin, with an emphasis on his rare self-portraits.

  • New City, New University: Applications Underway for DVIZH Academic Mobility Program 2024

    Until December 20, second- to fourth-year Bachelor’s students from ITMO University, the Russian Foreign Trade Academy, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, and Tomsk State University can apply for the DVIZH academic mobility program and win a chance to spend a semester at one of Russia’s top universities.     Scientists from ITMO’s Infochemistry Scientific Center are working on a digital barista, a smart system that will describe the taste of coffee grains without a human specialist. This project, developed with Siberian Federal University and business partners, is set to be used in vending coffee machines.

  • ITMO Signs Cooperation Agreements With Belarusian Universities

    ITMO’s Technology Transfer Center has signed collaboration agreements with three Belarusian research institutions: the Belarusian State Academy of Communications, the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR), as well as BSUIR’s Technopark. The agreements concern the potential introduction of ITMO's technological solutions to the Belarusian market and the establishment of a network for exchanging knowledge and experience.
