  • New by ITMO Scientists: Digital Service to Facilitate Artificial Enzymes for Industry and Medicine

    Researchers from ITMO University have developed a web platform that is capable of predicting a nanozyme’s (artificial enzyme) capability to accelerate chemical reactions – with high accuracy and in mere seconds. Apart from being free, the platform is user-friendly, as it’s equipped with a ChatGPT-based assistant. Among its applications is the development of new cancer treatments and sensors of hazardous materials. The platform was described in a paper published in The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters.

  • New Lab at ITMO: Using AI to Build Molecular Machines for Therapy and Diagnostics

    Generative Design of Enzymes and Aptamers – that is the name of a new laboratory just opened at ITMO, where researchers will develop AI-based tools for creating molecular machines. These are nanodevices that can catalyze chemical reactions, selectively bind molecules, and even act as biochips. The results of such research can help develop personalized treatments and POC  (point-of-care) systems – mobile devices for medical diagnostics.

    Moscow, the Murmansk Oblast, and the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug are at the top of the ranking with the Tyva Republic, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug bringing up the rear. According to the authors of the ranking, it reflects the readiness with which regional governments discuss current issues with their citizens using digital technologies.
