Mohammed Alsultan is the head of Get Local – a student club that organizes activities and events for international students. That includes leisure activities and cultural and personal development initiatives. Mohammed came to St. Petersburg from the Gaza Strip and is now in his second year at the Mechatronics and Robotics Master’s program at ITMO.
Today, ITMO Alumni Association brings together not just the university’s graduates who live in Russia, but also its former international students. For one, ITMO’s alumni community in Bulgaria has over a hundred members, some of which still participate in ITMO’s scientific events. Many of the international students who are currently studying in St. Petersburg are becoming ITMO ambassadors ready to represent ITMO in their home countries. ITMO.NEWS talked to a few of them.
ITMO University has recently launched a new international student club called "Get Local". This club is geared towards English-speaking international students from around the world, particularly those participating in exchange programs and english-language Master’s programs. The working language of the club is English and it will complement the existing International Students Council where most of the international students are from Russian-speaking countries, and therefore the working language is Russian.
