Moreover, ITMO is among the top 3 universities in Russia in both Computer Sciences and Artificial Intelligence; and among the top 5 – in Chemistry and Life Sciences.
In total, the university is featured in 11 subject fields (out of the 17 included in the ranking) and in 5 out of 8 subareas – narrower research fields highlighted by the ranking’s authors.
The analytics center Expert has been evaluating the publication activity of Russian universities since 2016. According to its creators, the ranking is devoid of subjectivity, allowing them to present an independent view on the current state of higher education in the country.
In terms of methodology, the ranking is based on four key criteria: quality of growth, relevance, scale, and superiority. In accordance with these criteria, universities are ranked based on their performance in several subject areas and subareas.
