1. Gifts for lonely elderly people
The Gifting Smiles volunteer group gathers presents for lonely seniors. In order to participate, you have to gather a parcel with gifts such as blankets, scarves, Christmas ornaments or anything else; you can check the full list of proposed presents here.
Then, you pass the parcel to any of the volunteers from the Gifting Smiles group stationed at various subway stations (check the list here), who will deliver it.
2. Blood donation
The blood donation center of the First Pavlov State Medical University of St. Petersburg looks for donors for patients of the Raisa Gorbacheva Memorial Institute of Children Hematology and Transplantation. This is the only clinic in Russia that performs bone marrow transplantation.
The center is located at 19-53 Lev Tolstoy Street, not far from the Petrogradskaya subway station. Don't forget to bring your passport!
The event lasts till December 28.
3. Sun on the fir tree
The Sun charity foundation helps the disadvantaged children of St. Petersburg. Every year, it conducts a New Year event for gathering gifts and donations. The list of proposed gifts includes sweets, educational games, hats, books, and so on.
You can bring the presents to the foundation's office at 1-3 Dumskaya Street, 6th floor.
The program ends on January 25.
4. Gifts to children
The Svet.Deti organization that helps oncology patients launched a fundraising campaign to buy presents for their charges. The money will be spent on gifts and treats for the youngest patients of oncology wards at different hospitals.
5. Gift warmth!
The ITALY Group restaurant chain sells trademark mittens of an original design. All the earnings will go to helping children who are charges of the Life Line Fund. You can check the list of venues where you can buy the mittens here.
The initiative will last till the end of December.
6. A ruble a day
You can start 2019 with a small but important deed by signing up for a monthly one-ruble donation towards charity organizations that collaborate with the Help Needed foundation. You can sign up for the program here. For now, the initiative's participants have already donated over six million rubles.
