This ranking, compiled by ANO Digital Economy, includes those universities that make significant contributions to training high-profile IT specialists. In 2024, the organizers evaluated 304 Russian universities and 63 IT-realted specializations within them.

Overall, the study was based on two parameters: the scale of IT specialists’ training and the findings of a survey conducted among 81 respondents – IT and HR heads from VK, Yandex, Sberbank, Positive Technologies, and other companies. They had to name the universities they collaborate with and whose graduates they would prefer to hire for entry-level IT positions, as well as the alma maters of their company’s best young specialists. In total, the respondents mentioned 169 universities from 59 Russian regions. Additionally, the ranking evaluated the number of tuition-free and fee-based IT positions and the admissions results to “digital” departments at each university in 2024.

In the ranking, the top universities from two Russian capitals, Moscow and St. Petersburg, are listed separately from the national ranking. ITMO made it to the top 10 of the first group, following Bauman Moscow State Technical University, MIREA – Russian Technological University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, and HSE University.
