Here I am again
As I have stated before, I don't care much about the format of my blog. Anyways, I will try to make it somehow related to why I have started it — with living abroad and being on a mobility programme. So below I'm gonna think a little about the choices we make. What rules us while making them and should we probably rebuild our way of reflecting while making a decision.
Let me start from a situation related to my exchange period. When I heard about this possibility, I had no doubt about it and assumed it was a must-have experience. It never was clear enough for me what am I going to face there, but I had an idea kept in my mind that this programme should change my self-awareness and my view on the ambience. And that is a 100% true — I can state that I am different right now from the person that came to Barca two months ago, keeping the core of myself, some minor changes in my vision were made. Talking about myself, I cannot be sure that I am very excited about these innovations in my life, but I am trying to admit them. Right now I am close to the first chapter of this post, the thesis of which is old but gold — "If you want to be more than what you are today, you should leave your comfort zone". There's nothing new here, but I want to remind everyone who reads this. The further you leave this zone, the bigger is the expanding of your consciousness. It wouldn't be a piece of cake, thus, be prepared for a hard job, either physical or mental ordeal, but it is very thankful, I bet. Coming back to myself, it is still not clearly seen how much I did change, but I see the gap between who I am nowadays and who I could be had I stayed in my routine.
The theme of the second paragraph is meant to be about the other complex thing that doesn't occur in our heads for the most of the times we make a choice. A freedom of choice. How much attention do we pay for it while making a decision? I guess, most of the time we just choose out of the options given to us and do not care about the outer alternatives. My adorable things are custom. Some of the furniture at my house (which is my favourite) is homemade, while I could go to IKEA. You may listen to the plenty of songs on the radio, but, I guess, your favourite one wouldn't be found there. And is the best dish you ever tasted offered at a network-cafe? The thing I wanted to be underlined is it is always better to choose not out of the provided options, but out of the options you make. And still, you have an option of choosing nothing or a completely different thing. Our minds aren't well prepared for the type of alternatives while those people who have a critical view on the surroundings are ruling the world.
Nevertheless, sometimes our choices are even made automatically, and the number of them is increasing by years. I agree, it is a useful tool sometimes, but it reduces the freedom of my decision, so that thing annoys me from time to time. But please, don't admit me as an adept of conspiracy theory, I still don't want to decide everything in my life. It doesn't matter for me whether I should buy a can of cheap olives or a more expensive one when I have Heinz, for example, but there could be a man who looks at olives differently.
Lastly, some general words to be repeated. Leave your comfort zone. Think different. Make a right choice and fight for it, because trying your best is never a bad idea.
