Six Facts about the ITMO U Representative Office in Brussels
The ITMO University Representative Office in Brussels opened up in 2014 as part of the university's internationalization effort. The purpose of creating a representative office in the heart of Europe is to bring ITMO closer to its European counterparts. Here are some facts about the office.
Fact #1: ITMO University is the first and only Russian higher education institution that has a permanent Representative Office in Brussels.
Fact #2: The Office is located five-minutes by foot from the European Commission's Directorate General for Research & Innovation and a three-minute walk from the European Parliament — on Rue du Luxembourg, BE-1000.
Fact #3: Brussels is a hub for conferences, info-days, panels and meetings for academics from all over Europe. So anyone can pop in to the ITMO Office in Brussels, to exchange news and discuss joint projects in the fields of science and education.
Fact #4: The Office is always looking for new partnerships for the University, and new collaborations that may then garner researchers and student mobility opportunities in the future and strengthen ITMO University's participation in programs such as Horizon-2020 and Erasmus+.
Fact #5: Representatives of many other European Universities (such as German, Finnish, British or Norwegian ones) are just a few steps away. So it's a perfect environment for expanding the network of international contacts and building relationships of trust between ITMO University and our colleagues in the EU.
Fact #6: The Brussels office helps ITMO U plan study-trips for ITMO start-ups in Europe, Horizon-2020 and Erasmus+ consortium building and bid writing, organization of summer and winter schools for European students in St. Petersburg, hosting ITMO International Council meetings, FP7 project seminars, Jean Monet project events, and many others.
