Recipe for Motivation
The hardest thing for students all over the world is always passing exams. Everybody hates books, notes, projects and reviews, university seems to be a torture. We all say "I need motivation"! Let’s get closer to the point and find the best recipe now.
I conducted an anonymous survey and asked the respondents: "Do you need motivation in any aspect of your life?" Let us tell you how shocked we were to find that only 5.1% said "NO". What does that mean? That we need motivation almost for everything. Why? If you think about it, you’ll see that there is no sensible answer. Ask your grandmother whether she needs motivation. I bet she’ll ask you what that is!
However today’s world completely accepts "the motivation cult". If we think deeply, motivation is a short-term thing that you need to stimulate endlessly. So why? Why do we need to stimulate ourselves to do the cleaning, to prepare for an exam? There are so many things and activities in this world that an average person would not like to do. But that doesn’t mean that he won’t. Probably the inspiration was at some point misinterpreted. This is something that our grandparents were not thinking at all. The longer we wait for that perfect condition and flow the less we do!
"If you're going to do anything, quit being lazy, quit making excuses and quit waiting for the right time."
The right question here is not "how do I find motivation", but "how do I make myself effective in any case?" The skill "to work in any condition despite your emotions" is achieved by discipline and concentration. The more you practice that skill, the more you succeed, the more you do. By doing micro-steps you can activate this motivation thing inside your head yourself. You can wait for inspiration forever or you can generate it yourself. Any micro-step once a week on the way to your goal is way better than a big mature step once a year!
So the next time you think "I need motivation" or "there's not enough motivation for me" change it to "I don’t have enough discipline!" That immediately puts you in the driver’s seat. That’s how you can get to 100% control.
