As part of the partnership, the company’s experts have already run open lectures and career guidance sessions, as well as, together with the university’s specialists, launched Software Assembly and Deployment Technologies, an educational track for senior students.
Additionally, MAGNIT TECH became an industrial partner of Top Data Science, an educational track for leading AI specialists and researchers at ITMO. The retailer will provide annual financial aid for the program until 2030.
“ITMO is the first university in the region to partner up with MAGNIT TECH. On par with the country’s top tech giants, our team can engage promising engineers and developers while they’re still studying and test ideas on real-world data and in production-like environments. In the future, we may also be able to experiment and test our developments using ITMO’s tech R&D platforms,” says Vyacheslav Kubaev, the director of digital technologies at Magnit.
Within the upcoming academic year, the teams of MAGNIT TECH and the Information Technologies and Programming Faculty are planning to run specialized projects, hackathons, and bootcamps. The retailer will also invite students to join its Start and PRO internship programs, which are designed to streamline the onboarding process for new employees and help minimally experienced interns reach required productivity levels faster.

From the very start, we’ve set a rapid tempo and a productive environment for our cooperation. On September 1 – less than six months from our first brainstorming session – we launched a unique DevOps course that we built together with the company’s top experts. Their developers and engineers have stepped in not just as experts – but also as lecturers to help train top-level AI specialists. Next, we expect a stronger educational partnership, internship programs, and involvement in graduation paper assessment, but most importantly, more career trajectories for students – the new motivated and competent specialists for one of the market’s leaders,” stresses Alexander Mayatin, the executive director of ITMO’s Information Technologies and Programming Faculty.
