Do some macramé

I tried this and this tutorial with zero prior experience in macramé – the art of creating ornaments through knotting – and, although not on the very first try, was pretty satisfied with the results. There’s no need to buy a whole roll of macramé cord, as any long enough thread will do (I used yarn, but something a bit less soft would be better).

Create felt ornaments

I had some felt left over from one of my past handmade projects and tried to make a couple of ornaments from it without following any tutorials – I just cut out two pieces of the same shape, sewed them together, and embroidered them. You can do the same, or, for something a bit more intricate, follow a tutorial of choice and add some stuffing to make your piece more voluminous.

Paint a box (or any other wooden object)

This is "one of the past handmade projects" I mentioned above. I glued bits of felt onto the interior of a box to make it soft on the inside because I wanted to store my rings in there, sanded the box on the outside, painted it with watercolors, and covered it with varnish. It will look good even if you simply make your piece monochrome, but another option is to use different colors and paint something on it.
