Key dates
Applications will start on June 20 and end on July 25.
12 pm, August 1 – the deadline for enrollment confirmation from prospective students applying without exams or within special admission quotas.
12 pm, August 5 – the deadline for enrollment confirmation from all other students applying for tuition-free positions.
How to apply
- In-person at the Admissions Office;
- Via the admissions website;
- By mail;
- Via Gosuslugi (for Russian citizens).
When applying on ITMO’s admissions website, applicants can:
- choose a specific program even in those cases when competition is held for a general subject area;
- get into a queue for a dorm placement;
- upload any additional documents right away, instead of at the end of the admissions campaign;
- find their names on the lists of applicants recommended for enrollment in real time (once they are made official).
Application documents
In 2025, the list of documents you need to provide remains the same:
- an application form;
- a scanned copy of your passport (with a notarized translation to Russian);
- a scanned copy of your education documents;
- any documents confirming your personal achievements;
- your photo (for official documents, in the digital format).
Find a list of the required medical documents here.
Original documents
This year, you won’t have to provide the original copies of your education documents, only a confirmation of your enrollment.
The confirmation can be submitted through Gosuslugi or in-person (for Russian citizens) in the indicated timeframe. More information about enrollment confirmation for international citizens will be available later. For any questions, reach out to International Admissions Office at international@itmo.ru.

How to choose your specialization
This year, students can choose up to five specializations in their application, compared to four last year.
How to prioritize your specializations
Prioritization of specializations was introduced in 2023 and this year, there are no changes. When filling out their applications, next to each chosen specialization, students need to indicate their priority: 1 – the top priority specialization, 5 – the lowest priority specialization. Importantly, priorities work within a university: if you pass the selection for all five specializations, you will be enrolled in the one that has the highest priority on your list. You can change the order of your priorities until the end of the application period.
Priorities are also reflected in admissions lists: you will be able to see that for some applicants, your program is a top priority, while for others – a backup plan; this will help you better evaluate your admissions chances.
Admission lists
In 2025, instead of indicating each applicant’s SNILS number on the admissions list, a unified system will issue a unique number for each applicant. This number will be available on Gosuslugi (for Russian citizens) and on the applicant’s personal page on the admissions website.
Admissions lists will be published and constantly updated on ITMO’s admissions website during the admissions campaign. They will be available to all applicants.
Important: in 2025, ITMO retains the “recommended to admission” system: their lists will be published and updated starting from mid-July. Applicants who find themselves on the lists and have submitted their applications are guaranteed a tuition-free position. Winners and runners-up of student competitions and those recommended to admission will be at the top of the list.

Unified State Exam
In 2025, applicants can apply with their Unified State Exam results from 2021-2025.
All specializations require the results of the exam in the Russian language. Another mandatory exam for nearly all ITMO subject fields is math. You can find the required exams for each specialization and last year’s admission scores here (in Russian).
For the subject field Innovatics, students can now choose their third exam (apart from the mandatory Russian and math): either physics or computer science.
For the first time this year, ITMO offers a subject field that doesn’t require a math exam – Design. There, applicants will have to provide their exam scores in Russian, literature, and social studies. However, it’s important to understand that during their years at ITMO students will need a grasp of math and computer science, too.
Admission without exams
The following categories of applicants have the opportunity to enroll into ITMO’s Bachelor’s programs without exams:
- winners and runners-up of Russian national school student competitions;
- winners and runners-up of international school student competitions;
- winners and runners-up of an approved selection of Russian school student competitions.
Important: the competition’s subject area has to align with the applicant’s chosen subject field. Find out more details here (in Russian).
International students can look into the enrollment opportunities listed on this page.

ITMO’s entrance exams
The following categories of applicants can enroll at ITMO based on the results of the university’s internal exams:
- people with disabilities;
- Russian citizens who have completed secondary vocational education;
- international citizens;
- Russian citizens who have completed their school education abroad;
- Belarusian citizens. Important: Belarusian citizens can apply with the results of the Centralized Testing, valid for two years. However, in this case, the applicant shouldn’t take the Unified State Exam – if the applicant has scores for both, the Unified State Exam results will be used in the admissions process.
The dates and additional information about ITMO’s entrance exams will be available on the admissions website.
If you are applying via ITMO’s entrance exams, you have to submit your documents by July 15. You will be admitted to take the exam after you’ve submitted your documents. You can choose the exams you need to take on your personal page of the admissions website.
Depending on the subject, an exam will take between two and three hours. All exams will take place online, on a special platform with synchronous proctoring.
Personal achievements
In 2025, like last year, applicants will receive additional points for specific personal achievements. You can learn more about this here (in Russian).
This year, students will also receive points for volunteering activities.

Tuition-based admissions
The main differences between application to tuition-free and fee-based positions are in the application dates. In other respects, the procedure remains the same.
In 2025, all fee-based applicants will be enrolled with a single order on August 20. The order will be issued after fee-paying students have signed their agreements with the university and paid for their first semester of studies. In terms of the academic process, as always, there won’t be any differences between fee-paying or tuition-free students.
