  • ITMO University PhD Student Evgeniy Odlyanitskiy on Creating a Laser Facility During Isolation

    Last year, Evgeniy Odlyanitskiy, ITMO University Faculty of Photonics and Optical Information’s PhD student, was invited for a six-month long internship at the University of Bordeaux in France. In six months, the Russian-French research team was supposed to create a laser system that is able to take high-quality pictures of objects in terahertz frequency range with subwave resolution. At the moment, the only system of that kind is located in Japan. Evgeniy was supposed to create his own version to be applied in the field of biophotonics.   • Students of Three European Universities Visit Russia to Study Closed-Loop Economy on the Example of St. Petersburg Companies

    CREA-RE-RU is a joint project by ITMO University, University of Gävle (Sweden), Lahti University of Applied Sciences (Finland), and University of Latvia. For two years now, the project’s participants have been solving real-life business cases provided by production plants and companies by developing effective schemes for utilizing natural resources. The project is divided into four study sessions: each semester, the participants are welcomed by a different partner university. ITMO University became the final venue, hosting the international students on February 17-21.

  • Active Learning: 7 Ways to Increase Students’ Motivation and Engagement

    As part of the ITMO.EXPERT project, ITMO University held a workshop on the strategies of active learning. Participating as speakers were the ITMO lecturers who’d recently completed an internship at Central European University (CEU) in Budapest, Hungary: Anna Balabanova, a tutor at Foreign Language Training Center; Stanislav Kim, an engineer at the Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics; and Ivan Loginov, an assistant at the Faculty of Software Engineering and Computer Systems.
