Ten students of ITMO University’s Faculty of Infocommunication Technologies and St. Petersburg State University went to China to take part in a two-week internship at the Huawei company. Apart from getting an insight into modern telecommunication systems, they learned about various configuration devices and the future of 5G communication network systems. If You Want to be the Best, Learn From the Best: ITMO University Collaborates with Alibaba Cloud University
A special delegation from ITMO University visited Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU) in China last week. They also visited the Alibaba office, whose founder, Jack Ma, is an HDU graduate. As a result of the visits, a preliminary agreement was made with Alibaba Cloud University for a summer school with ITMO University and HDU, which will run this summer in Hangzhou. As such, ITMO students will have an opportunity to get the latest knowledge from professionals from one of the largest high tech companies in the world at one of the best universities in China.
This year, Valery Chernov enrolled at ITMO’s Department of Computer Science and Control Systems in an experimental program with unique educational tracks. This December, he was the only Russian representative at the Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar (SIYSS), which coincides with the Nobel Prize festivities and is held annually since 1976. During the event, participants presented their research, attended lectures by Nobel Prize laureates, discussed the relevant issues and even danced with some of the world’s brightest minds.
This October, professor Gennady Lukianov from the Department of Sensing Equipment participated in the One Belt, One Road conference as part of ITMO's collaboration with Yantai city Sino-Russian Technopark. The event brought together international scientists and specialists from different branches of industry who were to help the Chinese build up their scientific resources. Upon getting back, Mr. Lukianov shared his opinions on the rapid-growing Chinese industry and how conferences are organized in China.
This year's first round of the annual School of Computer Technologies and Control’s Summer School has just ended at ITMO University. Among the participants were about a hundred Bachelor's and Master's students from two of China's largest universities - Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU) and Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES). Zhu Zefei, HDU's president, came to ITMO to congratulate the summer school's graduates. In future, ITMO and HDU are planning to expand their cooperation.
