    ITMO University’s School of Physics and Engineering joined the PathWave Design program by Keysight Technologies, an international company engaged in the development of automated design systems for high-frequency, microwave, and high-speed digital devices. As part of the partnership, ITMO will gain access to online seminars, workshops, and software.

  • Startup Connect: International Schools, Business Competitions, and Russian-Finnish Accelerators

    After almost three years of operation, the Startup Connect, a joint project of Russia and Finland, has come to an end. It is funded by the European Union, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Finland. During this time, ITMO University and the South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK) have organized several startup festivals, international schools, and business camps.

  • Herzen University and ITMO Specialists Develop a Bot that Helps Prepare for the Unified State Exam in Chemistry

  • ITMO University PhD Student Evgeniy Odlyanitskiy on Creating a Laser Facility During Isolation

    Last year, Evgeniy Odlyanitskiy, ITMO University Faculty of Photonics and Optical Information’s PhD student, was invited for a six-month long internship at the University of Bordeaux in France. In six months, the Russian-French research team was supposed to create a laser system that is able to take high-quality pictures of objects in terahertz frequency range with subwave resolution. At the moment, the only system of that kind is located in Japan. Evgeniy was supposed to create his own version to be applied in the field of biophotonics.   • ITMO University’s Accelerator and MTS Launch an Online Program for 5G Developers

    ITMO University and MTS, one of the largest Russian telecommunication companies and a digital services provider,  are launching a new program for the 5G track. It’s meant for the residents of ITMO University’s Accelerator: for technological entrepreneurs who, after completing the program, can become MTS 5G Center’s residents in Moscow and receive a grant for the development of solutions in this field.

  • ITMO Scientists and Mariinskaya Hospital Specialists Are Developing a New Thrombolytic Drug

    ITMO University’s international research center SCAMT, together with specialists from the Mariinskaya Hospital, continues to work on a new thrombolytic drug. Based on the results of preliminary tests, magnetically controlled particles can break down blood clots significantly more effectively than the drugs currently used. In 2018, the treatment underwent preclinical tests. ITMO.NEWS met SCAMT head Vladimir Vinogradov and Ivan Dudanov, head of the Regional Vascular Center, operating surgeon at the Mariinskaya Hospital and professor, to learn about the tests that await the new drug, what’s needed to be done to introduce it to the market and when this could happen.
