• Eight-Hour Experiments and a Football Match: Chinese Scientists on Internship at ITMO University

  ITMO continues to expand its international partnerships. This past December, the University welcomed a group of optical scientists from the Changchun University of Science and Technology, China, who came to conduct an internship at the Terahertz Biomedicine laboratory. • Over 200 Students Register For "I am a Professional" Competition

  The registration for the "I am a Professional" competition started on September 26. Since then, the number of applications has exceeded the 200,000 mark. The event gives Russia's best students an opportunity to get benefits for applying to Master's and PhD programs at the country's leading universities, as well as compete for internships at major companies and cash prizes. The registration deadline is November 22.

• Digital Manufacturing and Automated Factories: ITMO Students Develop Projects for Diakont Company

  Starting from this year, Diakont Jsc and ITMO University have launched a new subdivision, the Institute of Intelligent Industrial Technologies. What’s more, the partners are currently collaborating on a network Master’s program; its students get the opportunity to combine study with work, get jobs in hi-tech fields and introduce their inventions. In future, they will also be offered a chance to do internships at Diakont’s new plant in Italy.   Last week, ITMO University launched a major career event, ITMO.City of Professions. 24 companies presented their job opportunities and invited students to take part in various interactive activities. For example, Tinkoff Bank offered participants to play a turn-based strategy game in which you have to write a code in order to develop units. ITMO.City of Professions brought together companies specializing in five fields: photonics , engineering and robotics, management and innovations, food biotechnologies, and IT. ITMO.NEWS writes about the most interesting opportunities for students.

• Password-Protected Labs on the Red Sea Shore: KAUST Photonics Summer School

  This summer, Artyom Larin, a Master’s student at ITMO’s Department of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials, got to spend one month in the prestigious Photonics summer school held by the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. Having gone through the extremely competitive selection process of 20 people per place, the student was awarded a one-off opportunity to participate in the cutting-edge optics research project together with two other ITMO University students. ITMO.NEWS met Artyom to talk about his summer school adventure.

• Internship at MIT: Active Learning, Virtual Reality, and Entrepreneurial Skills

  A group of ITMO University teachers spent two weeks at MIT doing an internship on modern educational techniques. The purpose of the internship was to help its participants gain practical teaching skills and answer some important questions such as what are the ways to increase students’ productivity, how to implement online learning in the classroom, and why is it important to give students the opportunity to put the acquired knowledge into practice?
