AI Security: ITMO Launches New Master’s Program
This year, ITMO University is launching a new Master’s program titled AI Security. Its graduates will be able to ensure the security of AI systems and protect them from cyberattacks. The program’s students will be granted an opportunity to work for partner companies, such as Gazprom Neft, Sberbank, and Rostelecom, or join research teams.

Specialists From ITMO Develop Unique AI Talent-Scouting Service
The staff of ITMO University’s National Center for Cognitive Research have developed an AI-based service that identifies suitable candidates for a job, compiles their digital CV, ranks them, and even suggests questions for future interviews. The system, which received the name Exclusive, is designed to help search for various specialists, especially researchers with unique sets of competencies.

Is AI About to Replace Programmers?
DeepMind, an AI development company and the creators of AlphaGo, an algorithm that managed to defeat a professional Go player, has come up with a new algorithm that can write software code and solve complex creative tasks. ITMO University in 2021: A Year in Review
This year we celebrated 121 years of ITMO University. As with any other year, we had no shortage of challenges – but nothing we couldn’t rise above. There were also great new achievements to be proud of, such as grants, prizes, and awards and some extraordinary research accomplishments. On the international scale, we welcomed nearly 900 new international students.

ITMO University Receives Grant to Fund AI Research Center
ITMO University’s AI Research Center “Strong AI in Industry” became one of the grant winners in the contest held as part of the federal Artificial Intelligence project. The selection process was conducted by experts of the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation. The research center will be granted more than 1 billion rubles.

AI vs. Nanotechnology: ITMO Scientists on What Tech to Expect in the Near Future
The online project Stay The F Home Bar launched almost concurrently with the start of the pandemic. One of its virtual rooms, called I Speak You Listen, is designed as a venue for open lectures. ITMO University scientists recently tried out this new format; on May 7, George Zograf, PhD student of the Faculty of Physics and Engineering, and Andrey Filchenkov, head of the Machine Learning Lab, took part in an open talk during which they discussed the near future of AI and nanoscience – and whether we should fear them.
