  • National Cyber Testing Ground: ITMO Team Wins First Intercollegiate Cybersecurity Wargames

    The National Cyber Testing Ground is a major national initiative that’s being developed by Rostelecom. In 2021, the telecommunications company and ITMO launched a support center for the initiative as part of the university’s Safety and Security of Critical Information Technologies international research center. And recently, ITMO’s team won the National Cyber Testing Ground’s First Intercollegiate Wargames in Cybersecurity. We talked to Aleksander Menshikov, head of the National Cyber Testing Ground’s training center, and Dmitry Tatarov, the winning team’s captain, to learn about the wargames and how one can join ITMO’s team.

  • ITMO Team Wins Bronze at IST-2021

    The International Scientific Tournament, or IST for short, is a competition for students in the fields of natural sciences: physics, chemistry, and biology. Over the course of several days, the participants compete to solve interdisciplinary scientific challenges. A team that included four Master’s students of ITMO’s international research center SCAMT placed among the top three in this year’s competition.

    Ammar Ali, a Master’s student at ITMO’s Information Technology and Programming Faculty, took first place in the American National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) competition where he had to create a model that predicts disturbances in the Earth’s geomagnetic field.

    Daniil Tsimerman, a first-year student at the Faculty of Software Engineering and Computer Systems, was ranked first in the Junior category at AIJ Contest. The online competition was organized by Sberbank as part of the AI Journey conference.

  • Three ITMO Students and a Graduate Win UMNIK Grant Competition – Here Are Their Projects and Plans

    The winners’ projects include a prosthetic elbow joint, 3D-printed dental implants, a medical diagnostics system, as well as a program that finds errors in code. The results of the competition were announced on October 23.
