  • METANANO-2018 Conference on Nanophotonics and Metamaterials Comes to a Close in Sochi

    The conference, held on the premises of the Sirius Educational Center, brought together more than 300 researchers in the field of nanophotonics and metamaterials from top research centers and laboratories of the UK, Germany, Sweden, France, the USA, Australia, China, Russia, and other countries. Over the course of five days, researchers presented more than 200 reports and discussed their work and future partnerships.

  • Sochi Hosts METANANO 2018 International Conference

    This Monday, September 17, the third METANANO International Conference on Nanophotonics and Metamaterials started in Sochi. The conference will last till September 21 and bring together more than 300 leading scientists from all over the world, including Prof. Andre Geim from the University of Manchester, a 2010 Nobel Prize winner in physics, who will talk about his latest research in the field of 2D heterostructures.

  • 4th International Conference on the Periodic Table endorsed by IUPAC and UNESCO

    The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and UNESCO have officially announced support for the 4th International Conference on the Periodic Table. The conference will be held at ITMO University on July 26, 2019. Leading specialists in the field of chemistry and physics from Russia, the USA, the UK, Spain, New Zealand, Taiwan, Italy, Germany, Poland and other countries will come to St. Petersburg to take part in the event.

  • Lasers&Photonics Congress: Quantum Dots and Topological Insulators

    The 18th Lasers&Photonics Congress has just kicked off in St. Petersburg; it includes several conferences, schools for young scientists and students, and an exhibition on laser and optoelectronic technologies. The main topics of the congress are: research into quantum dots and their practical application in lasers, a new concept of lasers based on topological insulators, as well as the possibilities offered by the European X-ray free-electron laser (XFEL), experiments on which began last autumn. These topics were discussed during the plenary presentations by the event’s main speakers. The congress is organized by ITMO University together with its partners.

  • ITMO University Shines at TechCrunch International Robotics Conference

    In December 2017, ITMO University started to collaborate with the British company TRA Robotics. Since then, they have been working on several joint projects in the field of robotics. In the middle of May, Berkeley, United States, hosted one of the world's most prestigious conferences in the field of robotics, TechCrunch Sessions: Robotics 2018. ITMO University and TRA Robotics presented their joint projects, a prototype of versatile industrial grasping device “UHVAT”, and an algorithm of sensorless force/torque regulation for robotic arms.

These and many other questions will be discussed at the Information Society and Technology Week, which is aimed at experts in the field of e-government, law, economics, linguistics, psychology and philosophy. The event will last till June 2 and will be host to a range of sessions and workshops. Stephen Coleman, a Professor of Political Science at the University of Leeds, a leading theorist in the field of e-democracy and new media will be one of the key speakers. He will present his research and his new book “Can the Internet Strengthen Democracy?”.
