• ITMO’s 120th Anniversary: Scientists Look Back on the University’s History Through the Prism of Their Fields

  ITMO University is celebrating its 120th birthday anniversary – it was on March 26, 1900, that a Mechanics, Optics and Watchmaking Department, which ITMO traces its history to, was opened in the Prince Nicholas Vocational School. Today, Russia’s first non-classical university is among the country’s higher education leaders and is constantly reaching new heights in international rankings. ITMO spearheads the development of both traditional subjects and new ones, and the contribution of its scientists can hardly be overestimated.
