ITMO Partners With GUP TEK on Digital Adaptation Program for Senior Citizens
How should the older generation adapt to societal changes and stay up to date on the latest in health and culture? This is a question that the online platform Third Age University aims to answer. The project was developed by specialists from ITMO University; recently, they were also joined by GUP TEK – a state unitary enterprise that provides approximately 48% of all fuel and energy services in the city of St. Petersburg. ITMO.NEWS found out about the project’s results so far and its future plans for development.

Latvian Student on the Challenges of Distance Learning and Closed Borders

ITMO University Returns to On-Site Learning Starting on February 8
The Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education has ordered its subordinate institutions of higher education to return to the conventional learning format starting on February 8. The corresponding decree was signed by Minister Valery Falkov. ITMO University will now begin the transition to offline (on-site) learning. ITMO University Transferring Students to Distance Learning Until February 6
As a means of preventing the spread of the coronavirus infection, the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education has made a decision to transfer all universities in Moscow and St. Petersburg to distance learning until the end of the semester – February 6, 2021. An associated decree was published on November 11. ITMO University will conduct its educational activities online with the use of distance learning technologies. The order signed by Vladimir Vasilyev, Rector of ITMO University, as well as sanitary and epidemiological requirements, are available here (in Russian).

Best of Offline and Online: Exploring the New Look of Education
On August 24-29, ITMO University hosted the online intensive course titled Blended Learning: Educators’ Digital Competencies. During the event, ITMO’s teaching staff learned about the upcoming academic year’s blended learning format and developed the skills required to bring that plan to fruition. More than 300 staff members took part in the course.
