2019 was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly as the International Year of Mendeleev’s Periodic Table of Chemical Elements. The discovery of the periodic table in 1869 was a major breakthrough in the field of chemistry. Its publication laid the foundation for rapid development of this complex yet extremely interesting science, while the history of its invention is full of myths and legends. According to one of them, the scientist saw the table in a dream. In his open lecture at the Mendeleev Center, Eugeniy Kalinin, a lecturer at St. Petersburg State University, shared about the path the humanity made to discover the periodic table of chemical elements.
