ITMO Professor Ekaterina Skorb And President Vladimir Putin Discuss the Future of Chemical Science in Russia
On May 17, during his visit to Sochi, President Vladimir Putin met with several young scientists and megagrant recipients. During a prior meeting in 2016, he listened to their suggestions on the improvement of the country’s system for rewarding scientists and commending research work in Russia. Since then, a number of contests and grants for supporting young scientists’ research has been launched. ITMO University Professor Awarded for Mentoring
By order of the President of the Russian Federation, head of the ITMO University Programming Technology Department Anatoly Shalyto was awarded “For Mentoring”. Only three people, including our professor, have received this honorary award, established by the decree of Vladimir Putin on March 2, 2018. The award is given for merits in the professional development of young professionals and active mentoring.

Young Scientists from ITMO University Receive Presidential Grants
On May 30, during a special ceremony, 53 young scientists from St. Petersburg's universities and institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg were given presidential grants. ITMO University was represented by five researchers who received grants in the Physics and Astronomy category. In an interview for ITMO.NEWS, the researchers shared about their research.

Project 5−100 May Be Extended Until 2025
Yaroslav Kuzminov, Rector of the Higher School of Economics, has recently met Vladimir Putin to report the results of Project 5−100. As a representative of the Global Universities association, he also brought up the proposition to prolong the project until 2025.

President Putin Acknowledged Inventions by Quantum Communications and Diakont Company
On December 25th, President Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, paid an official visit to the Diakont Company which hosted the exhibition of Saint. Petersburg's high-technology organizations. Such companies as Lenpoligraphmash, ROTEX and ITMO's Quantum Communications SIE made their presentations at the event.
