  • ITMO and Rostelecom Work on a Support Center of the National Cyber Testing Ground

    It will be the first support center in St. Petersburg and the fifth in Russia. The agreement was signed by Igor Lyapunov, vice president of Rostelecom in information security, and Vladimir Vasilyev, rector of ITMO University, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 4.


  • ITMO University Partners Up With Rostelecom to Develop Unique Quantum-Encrypted Data Network

    On the day prefacing the start of this year’s St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), in an event held at the A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications, Rostelecom unveiled a prototype of Russia’s first quantum-encrypted data transmission network. This data transmission mechanism is considered to be the safest one out there, as the keys protecting the traffic cannot be intercepted or stolen because of the laws of quantum physics. ITMO University is one of the developers and suppliers of state-of-the-art equipment.

    Aimed at allowing citizens to receive financial services online thanks to a remote identification mechanism, the Unified Biometric System was launched in Russia several months ago. Alisa Korzhenevskaya, project leader at Russia’s national telecommunications operator Rostelecom, has been monitoring the project since its very beginning. This year, she joins ITMO University to share her extensive experience and insight in a study course titled ‘Systems of Interdepartmental Electronic Interaction’.   • ITMO and Rostelecom Support Technological Startups

    Rostelecom and ITMO University have signed a cooperation agreement on joint acceleration programs and technological startups development. Together, the company and the university will launch several acceleration programs, as well as other educational events aimed at supporting Russian scientific organizations and industrial enterprises that specialize in information and communication technologies, cutting-edge products for all sectors of the economy, as well as software and hardware-software systems.
