About the open call
The interns are expected to work for up to 10 hours a week (the hours may vary depending on the chosen department). An intern’s responsibilities should be listed in the application and have to be associated with a unit’s core activities. All students participating in the project will be employed as clerks at the Staff Support Office.
The internship program at ITMO University consists of two tracks:
- Internship
Short-term internships aimed at helping various departments during periods of increased workload. The interns receive experience that goes into their CV and counts towards practical training. The term of participation is from one to three months.
- Employee pool
This track is aimed at preparing interns for future work at departments that have development plans for the upcoming year and understand the necessity of selecting new staff members in advance. The term of participation is from three months to one year.
Participation conditions
- Discuss and define the intern’s responsibilities, tasks, and work format before taking them on;
- Every intern must be appointed a mentor from among the unit’s staff members who will be responsible for organizing the intern’s work and their position within the unit’s structure;
- Mentors have to monitor the completion of the set tasks. It is preferred that mentors have enough time and opportunities to pay sufficient attention to the interns’ performance, hence we advice against choosing mentors from among those in executive positions;
- Following the results of their activities, interns will present their results in a report describing the tasks they’ve solved, the project that they’ve participated in, and the changes in the operation of the unit that they’ve initiated.
- Interns’ wages are 10,000 rubles a month (after tax) in case of a weekly 10-hour workload.
- A unit can refuse an intern’s assistance if the intern fails to perform the tasks they were assigned;
- Participation in an Internship track program can be a part-time job.
Additional conditions for participants in the Candidate pool track:
- Participants will receive training that will help them develop the skills essential for working at a university.
- Every 2-3 months, interns and their mentors will meet with the project’s coordinators and discuss interns’ results and plans for the next quarter.
- Participation in a Candidate pool track program should be the intern’s primary employment.
