Concerts galore at St. Petersburg Philharmonia
Music is something we can truly rely on at all times – it can help us process our feelings or transport us to another place. It can also be something that warms us from the inside even when the early spring sun isn’t as generous. So here is a selection of concerts that will be on at the St. Petersburg Philharmonia this weekend:
This Saturday, March 12, at 7 pm, the Small Hall of the Philharmonia will host the Chamber Music Evening with Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata for Cello and Piano and Mozart’s Duet for violin and viola in G. Tickets can be found here.
On Sunday, March 13, at 3 pm in the Small Hall you will get the chance to explore American jazz through compositions by some of its founding fathers: George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, and Dave Brubeck. Tickets can be found here.
Finally, also on Sunday at 7 pm the Grand Hall will host the Spring Gala-Concert featuring, among others, select compositions by Mozart, Bizet, Tchaikovsky, and J. Strauss II. The concert will be performed by Singolo Orchestra’s distinguished musicians and opera singers. Tickets can be found here.
Porkchop. La Catedral exhibition

Erarta is known for always inviting the most unusual and original artists to exhibit at the museum. This time is no exception – the works of the American interdisciplinary artist Porkchop are startling in the way they contrast the physical and spiritual worlds. The exhibition comprises artfully cast and embellished human-like sculptures that were originally inspired by the artist’s exploration of the Aztec civilization. Step into a different world as you discover this exhibition.

We turn to music again – this time, to Celtic folk songs, as well as songs from The Lord of the Rings film saga and renditions of Enya’s creations. Thanks to the hidden location, the concert will create a truly peaceful atmosphere. Compositions will be performed on the harp to add to the spirit of Medieval romanticism.
Mr. Nobody, Death on the Nile, and Rigoletto on the big screen

This weekend has treats for cinemaholics as well thanks to our all-time favorite Rodina cinema.
On Saturday (4:20 pm) and Sunday (12 pm), you will have the chance to see the cult sci-fi film Mr. Nobody (2010) starring Jared Leto as the last mortal man on Earth reminiscing about his life with its multitude of choices and consequences. Tickets can be found here.
On Sunday (6:30 pm), there is a screening of Death on the Nile, the most recent adaptation of the classic Agatha Christie novel starring Kenneth Branagh as the famous Hercule Poirot. Tickets can be found here.
Finally, at 5 pm on Sunday you will be able to join a live broadcast of Rigoletto performed at the Royal Opera House. This new rendition promises to look at Verdi’s classic from a new, contemporary angle. Tickets can be found here.
All above-mentioned films will be screened in their original languages with Russian subtitles.
