To celebrate the 175th anniversary of the famous Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, on May 25 St. Petersburg will host a series of free concerts. Visit Theater Square (from 1pm to 2.30pm), Summer Garden (from 2pm to 4.30pm), and Arts Square (from 4.30pm to 9pm) to enjoy live performances of the composer’s timeless masterpieces.

International Festival of Hang Music Animara Fest

Animara Fest is the place where you can feel the incredible magic of hang music, listen to lectures about how music affects our brain, and even learn to play handpan. Among the festival’s headliners are Yuki Koshimoto from Japan, Vladisvar Nadishana from Germany, Daniel Waples from the UK, accompanied by over ten other bands from Russia and abroad.
Sand Sculpture Festival

May 25 marks the opening of the annual Sand Sculpture Festival on the beach near the Peter and Paul Fortress. This year’s topic is “The Lost Worlds”, so visitors will have a chance to get a glimpse of Poseidon’s underwater kingdom, travel to the legendary Atlantis, and marvel at all kinds of magical creatures from mermaids to gigantic dragons, all made by hand out of sand!
