The upcoming weekend is an excellent chance to catch up on all the freshly opened exhibitions that you might not have had the time to visit just yet, for instance: 

The End of History by Dmitry Sirotkin

The installation of works by Dmitry Sirotkin, a Russian photographer, artist, and book illustrator, explores the topic of culture and history and their place in the lives of people and society as a whole. Starting May 1, the artist invites visitors to reflect on the cancellation of Russian culture in order to come to an understanding of the trend’s roots and scale in the modern world. On holidays and weekends, all visitors will have the chance to take part in art mediations and meet Dmitry Sirotkin in-person.

Tunisia through the lens of Alexandre Roubtzoff

To explore the beauty of Tunisia, come to the exhibition of works by Alexandre Roubtzoff, a Russian-born painter, who was so captivated by the country that he spent a good half of his life there. Currently on at St. Michael's Castle, the exhibition depicts daily life in North Africa and showcases the land in all its glory and diversity, from snowy peaks to endless deserts.

Taming Fire is a joint exhibition of ROSPHOTO Exhibition Center and B.I. Konchaev Firefighting Technical Exhibition that tells the story of St. Petersburg’s fire departments from the opening of the first station in as far back as 1722 all the way until nowadays.

Victory Day

Traditionally, on May 9, Russian cities and St. Petersburg in particular are turning the holiday mode on to celebrate the major national holiday commemorating the 77th anniversary of Victory Day. This year’s celebration will come with the traditional military parade, the march of the Immortal Regiment (held on-site this year), WWII-inspired movies in theaters (Rodina or Aurora cinemas), wartime songs and poetry, thematic exhibitions, and a firework over the Peter and Paul Fortress at 10 pm, which will majestically close the celebration.
