2023 Erarta Prize exhibition

For the first time in the history of the Erarta Prize, the museum’s visitors will play a key part in choosing this year’s winners from among the exhibited artists. After visiting the exhibition, you will have the opportunity to vote for your favorites on your personal page (it is created when you purchase your museum pass). Every voter will automatically enter a lottery, and as the winning artists are announced, 10 randomly selected voters will receive 10,000 ruble prizes. This is, of course, only a bonus to the chance of experiencing contemporary art pieces by 61 creators all displayed in a single space. If that’s not a way to become a true modern art connoisseur, we don’t know what is.

Handheld games at Yandex Museum

Apart from offering its usual exposition of old-school PCs and first iMacs, for a month Yandex Museum will be displaying a collection of handheld games, including Brick Game, Nintendo Game & Watch, and a variety of Soviet pocket consoles. You can touch and interact with all the exhibits, which means that a trip to the museum can quickly turn into a retro game night.

Cheese Weekend

If you, like some of us here on the editorial team, cannot imagine your life without cheese, this is an event just for you. Just imagine strolling along the aisles, tasting all the mouth-watering cheeses produced locally or by some of the best Russian manufacturers… It’s a dream come true, isn’t it? Add in the workshops and contests held for visitors, lively music, and snacks galore – and there you have it, a perfect day spent in delicious cheeseland. We can’t wait.

On the Big Screen: After Yang

After Yang (2021) is an A24 film starring Colin Farrell that tells the story of a family dealing with the "passing" of their human-like android companion. Ever since Asimov’s seminal I, Robot, stories about androids have explored what it means to be human, to feel, and this film won’t be an exception. You can also expect stunning wide-angle visuals, seemingly characteristic of director Kogonada’s work. As any A24 movie, this one just might turn out to be a masterpiece in its own right. You can find showtimes and tickets here.
