The new ranking assesses the training of a university’s graduates in terms of their career prospects, practical skills, and the ability to complete real-world industrial tasks. Evaluation is based upon the results of four case championships held in 2024-2025: Changellenge >> Cup Russia, Changellenge >> Hack&Change, Changellenge >> Cup Moscow, and Changellenge >> Cup IT. Also considered was the number of students who took part in the competitions, how they performed in the selection rounds, and whether they proceeded to the finals or became winners.
ITMO took the third place based on the quality of students’ and graduates’ practical training. A total of 146 ITMO students participated in Changellenge >> championships, with every fifth one securing a prize-winning place. ITMO also ranked in the top three in terms of the efficiency and quality of training for real-world business cases: this was calculated by dividing the number of points earned through solving cases by the number of participants.
In order to train competitive specialists with zero workplace adaptation time, ITMO collaborates closely with industrial partners. The university offers 26 Bachelor’s and 82 Master’s programs, some of which are implemented in collaboration with Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, Yandex, Gazprom Neft, Samolet, YADRO, Napoleon IT, Positive Technologies, and other major Russian companies. Thanks to these collaborations, ITMO students are getting relevant skills from practicing industry specialists, solving real-world business cases, completing internships, and finding employment before graduation. ITMO graduates are valued on the market: recently, the university was ranked among the top 10 Russian universities based on employer reputation by Forbes Education and also took second place based on the average salary of its IT graduates in the ranking by Superjob.
It was recently announced that the university received funding for the training of high-quality specialists in AI (350+ million rubles) and IT (160+ million rubles).
