Everyday basics

ISU can prove quite useful on a daily basis – here’s a list of features that can make your routine easier: 

  • Find any student, member of staff, or department: just type the name of a person or department in the search field on the main page; on a department’s page, you’ll be able to see its structure and contact information, while on a person’s page, you’ll be able to see their office hours, achievements, and frequent collaborators;
  • Check your stipend or salary: just click Финансы (Finances) and you’ll be able to see your payslips and stipend amount (available in English); 
  • Find your class schedule and info about your educational program in the tab Учебный процесс (Academic process) in the menu on the left on the main page (available in English);
  • Plan out your days: on the main page, you’ll find announcements of events, contests, trips to Yagodnoye, and other activities at the university – scroll through them to never miss an opportunity you might like; 
  • In the Полезные ссылки (Useful links) section, you’re able to access your corporate email, Office 365, as well as plans of every building for easy navigation (download the app itmo.maps (App Store, Google Play) for interactive maps of all campuses);
  • On your personal page, you’ll find quick links to the sections listed above, as well as others – campus Wi-Fi access, the list of your groupmates, your profile, and more;
  • Generate a QR campus pass (just click Открыть электронный пропуск on the main page).

Organizing events

Whether you want to host a club meeting, a study group session, a lecture, or any other event at ITMO, you have so many options at your disposal! 

First and foremost, you are going to need a room – and you can book one with the tab Бронирование помещений (Room bookings) on the main page. There, you can choose a conference room at any ITMO coworking space (including larger ones that can host 30+ people) and even indicate if you need a microphone, a computer, or any other equipment you may require. In the same tab, you can book an online conference room (Zoom) for your meeting.

What’s next? Create an announcement on ISU to let everyone know about your event. Just click Добавить новость on the main page and type away. You can also attach an image and link to a registration form there. 

Want to reach even more people? Apply for publication on video screens at various campuses and locations: the entrance halls at Lomonosova and Kronverksky, ITMO Library, and coworking spaces. Find the relevant tab (Заявка на размещение на инфопанелях) in the Электронные заявки (Digital requests) section. While there, you can also request a photographer’s services for your event.

The tab Электронные заявки (Digital requests), a plethora of opportunities in itself, deserves a separate mention. 

For students, some of the key options here are: 

  • If you need a laptop or a tablet for a day of studies and presentations, apply for one via ITMO.Share, the university’s free rental service, by clicking the relevant tab;
  • For young entrepreneurs, there is the opportunity to participate in the university’s acceleration program ITMO Accelerator, while aspiring engineers and inventors can apply for a tour of the Center for Educational Workshops or the Museum of Optics; 
  • You can also apply for all kinds of consultations: from the Academic Writing Lab, the Youth Projects Office, and Fund It;
  • Student clubs wishing to branch out can also apply for funding for their activities and events.

And here are some handy tabs for ITMO staff:

  • When inviting a guest lecturer or expert, you can issue them an official invitation via the tab Приглашение гостей;
  • If you are looking to ensure that your course corresponds to the market’s needs, you can request a job market evaluation from the Career Services Center;
  • Is there a book or a journal you think your students will benefit from? Fill out the request form and the ITMO Library will stock it; 
  • You can also request all kinds of employment-related paperwork in the dedicated section Работа (Employment).
