The agreement includes the following areas of future cooperation:
- Training of specialists and providing professional development for the company staff;
- Organizing internships for students of the ‘Compressed Natural Gas Technologies’ Master’s program;
- Conducting joint research projects aimed at initiating new and improving solutions in the field of liquefied natural gas (LNG) technologies;
- Developing test installations for conducting such research.
Head of ITMO University’s School of Biotechnology and Cryogenic Systems Igor Baranov considers the newly-established partnership a strategically important step towards the development of topical scientific research in the field of cryogenic technologies. What is more, liquefied natural gas technologies are high on the modern industry’s agenda. Supported by the company’s long-standing practical record, the extensive skills and expertise of ITMO’s academic and research staff will lay the foundation for creating sophisticated and commercially viable LNG solutions, believes Dr. Baranov.
“Our company staff already includes talented ITMO University students who have participated in designing a pilot model of a new single-arc fuel-dispensing unit for filling vehicles with liquefied natural gas. It was a very positive experience, so we’re counting on our new partner’s academic and research potential in our quest for innovative solutions in the field of LNG,” adds Vladimir Korobeynikov, CEO of Kirovsky Zavod Gas Technologies LLC.
One of the most compelling trends of world energetics is the universal move towards eco-friendly and energy-effective types of fuel. ITMO University and Kirovsky Zavod have managed to develop a successful scientific project that taps into the latest developments in this sphere.
As of now, Kirovsky Zavod Gas Technologies LLC is set to pursue its newfound mission of developing the budding Russian LNG industry. The company’s plans for the near future include working with its international partners to advance the localization of manufacturing equipment for the LNG factories, as well as building a medium-duty plant for producing liquefied natural gas.
ITMO staff and company representatives are convinced that the results of their collaboration will be of real use to the national industry.
A subsidiary enterprise of Kirovsky Zavod OJSC, Kirovsky Zavod Gas Technologies LLC has been producing complex infrastructure for manufacturing compressed natural gas (CNG) for Gazprom Gas-Engine Fuel LLC and other high-profile clients. The company’s most recent venture is building medium-duty plants for manufacturing liquefied natural gas (LNG), as well as installation of hi-tech fuel-dispensing units allowing to transform CPG into LNG in absence of stationary gas pipes.
