All in all, the 2020 ranking features 75 Russian universities. The top three positions went to Lomonosov Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University and Higher School of Economics. ITMO University ranks tenth overall, sixth in the authority held among young people, seventh in the influence exerted among the internet audiences, and ninth in its contribution to the scientific community. What is more, the ranking places ITMO as the second-best university in St. Petersburg, surpassed only by St. Petersburg State University.
The ranking was formed on the basis of 15 criteria, assessing the information from university surveys and data from independent sources such as the Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s Graduate Employment Monitoring, bibliographic database Web Of Science Core Collection, web analytics by the company Alexa, social media such as VK and Facebook, and RAEX’s own data.
Last year, ITMO University placed third in RAEX’s IT Ranking and 14th in the agency’s annual ranking of Russian universities.
The ranking agency RAEX compiles rankings, assigns non-credit ratings, and conducts industry and market research. Among the agency’s products are a ranking of Russia’s largest companies, a ranking of the investment appeal of the country’s regions, rankings of schools, universities and healthcare providers, and more.
