Applicants Can Now Evaluate Their Enrollment Chances With USE Points Calculator by ITMO
In 2025, Russian students can apply to five universities, opting for up to five specializations in each of them. With so many options, it’s hard to keep track of all the enrollment factors, including personal achievements and, primarily, Unified State Exam (USE) scores. One popular solution to this are various USE points calculators that can compute the total score of a student and use it to recommend programs they can apply for. ITMO Admission Guide 2025: Programs, Deadlines & Useful Sources
Today, on June 20, ITMO University officially starts its 2025 admissions. Prospective students can submit their documents by visiting the university’s admissions office on Kronverksky Pr. 49 or remotely via the admissions website. This year, the university introduced one new Bachelor’s and four new Master’s programs. Most of the programs are implemented in collaboration with Yandex, Alfa-Bank, VK, Sberbank, Yadro, Avito, and other industry leaders. Unclonable Anti-Counterfeiting Tags Based on Optical Properties of Gold and Silicon Created at ITMO
Scientists at ITMO have come up with a new way to protect microelectronics devices from counterfeit. The new technology is based on gold and silicon nanoparticles with unique optical properties that make it possible to create unclonable functions with a record information density. Such functions can also be used for generating cryptographic keys. The results of the study were described in Nature Communications.

Device for High-Accuracy Cell Experiments Developed at ITMO
ITMO’s portable mini lab now has a new device that combines two methods for studying substances: atomic-force microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. With the device, it’s possible to study the properties of materials and cells; its application will accelerate the development of biomaterials by making microbiological experiments more accurate. Now, the mini lab is used for growing cell cultures, developing databases, and developing cells and organs.
