  • Short-Term Academic Mobility Programs: How to Get University’s Financial Support

    Apart from going on semester-long academic mobility programs, ITMO’s students can also get financial support for participating in short-term international events and research internships. Such support covers up to two short-term events a semester, so even if you’re planning to go study abroad in spring, you still have the chance to participate in various conferences, forums, workshops and other academic activities during the winter semester.

  • Password-Protected Labs on the Red Sea Shore: KAUST Photonics Summer School

    This summer, Artyom Larin, a Master’s student at ITMO’s Department of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials, got to spend one month in the prestigious Photonics summer school held by the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. Having gone through the extremely competitive selection process of 20 people per place, the student was awarded a one-off opportunity to participate in the cutting-edge optics research project together with two other ITMO University students. ITMO.NEWS met Artyom to talk about his summer school adventure.

    AEGEE is a European non-profit organisation that allows students and young people from all over the world to travel with affordable prices in Europe (a trip costs about 100-200 euros) and study at the same time.   • Academic Mobility: ITMO Student on Studying in Poland

    Artem Koksharov, Master’s student at ITMO’s Faculty of Technological Management and Innovations spent the last semester at one of Poland’s most prestigious universities - Wrocław University of Science and Technology.   • Academic Mobility: Studying Biotechnology at Sup Biotech Paris

    Aleksandra Predeina, Alena Moiseenko and Elena Panasuk, students at ITMO’s Faculty of Food Biotechnologies and Engineering, spent the last semester at Sup’Biotech Paris - a French private school that focuses on training specialists in different fields of biotechnology, from aesthetic medicine to pharmaceutics and agricultural production. In the course of several months, not only did they get to familiarize themselves with new fields, but develop several projects, as well. For instance, they’ve proposed the concept of protective gear for sportsmen and come up with a solution for the food crisis we’ll be facing in 2050 when Earth’s population will amount to 9 billion. In an interview for ITMO news, they talked about the peculiarities of studying and living in France.

  • From A Double Degree Program To A PhD In France: Student Shares

    In 2014-2016, Uliana Pinaeva was studying Molecular Bio- and Nanophotonics (MONABIPHOT), a double degree program conducted by ITMO University and ENS de Cachan (France). During her time in France, she decided to continue her education as a PhD student abroad. To get a corresponding grant, she passed a three-stage selection conducted by the University of Paris-Saclay. Currently, Uliana is a second-year PhD student working in a laboratory at École Polytechnique - one of the most prestigious universities in France. In an interview for ITMO.NEWS, she gave advice on developing one’s career on an international level and getting funding for studying in France.
