Leading Experts Look Into the Future at ITMO International Council’s 11th Meeting in Israel
This weekend, ITMO University’s International Council has gathered for its 11th session in the buzzing city of Tel Aviv, Israel. The members exchanged their opinions and expertise in discussing the meeting’s keynote topic, “Towards ITMO’s 2021-2027 Roadmap”, explored the ways of attracting new talents into the University’s distinguished academic staff, and made a visit to one of ITMO’s partner institutions in Israel, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, as part of the event’s vibrant cultural program.

ITMO’s Robotics Team Wins Silver at World Robot Olympiad 2019
The 2019 World Robot Olympiad, an international robotics competition for talented school and university students from over 70 countries, has just come to a close in the city of Győr, Hungary. Led by coach Igor Lositsky, ITMO University whizzes took second place, surpassing more than 30 teams in the Senior High age category. They presented their project LEGO Education Helper, a smart table that cleans itself.

Serious Science: How School Students Create Projects at Sirius and Develop Them Under the Guidance of ITMO
This summer, dozens of Russian school students came to Sirius to work on projects in 12 different tracks, from Nanotechnology to Cognitive Studies, New Materials and Smart cities. Researchers from ITMO University’s Faculty of Physics and Engineering participated in the program as mentors and project developers. With their guidance, the students developed breakthrough nanostructured antibacterial surfaces and a metalens for focusing Wi-Fi radiation. To continue working on their projects, the students came to ITMO where they not only attended lectures but also got a chance to visit ITMO’s many laboratories and work on real-life lab equipment.
