ITMO University Hosts the First IChem Prize Contest for School Students
Twenty-five school students from different regions of Russia came to ITMO University to present their interdisciplinary projects on topics encompassing chemistry, biology, mathematics, and IT. Winners received monetary prizes, invitations to participate in the finals of ITMO.STARS, and paid internships at ITMO's Infochemistry Scientific Center.

Just recently, ITMO University enrolled its third selection of students who were admitted via the ITMO.STARS individual achievements contest. The program offers talented applicants who couldn’t get a tuition-free position and can’t afford to pay for their education an opportunity to study at the university’s expense. This year, 15 students got the opportunity.

School Student from St. Petersburg Becomes First Author of Article Published in Leading Chemistry Journal
Following the results of her internship at ITMO’s ChemBio Cluster, Veronika Elkina wrote a review of the multiple fields that promethium can be applied in. The article was published in Frontiers in Chemistry, a top-quartile chemistry journal.

ITMO University Student Team Becomes All-Round Winner of Moscow Travel Hack
Representing ITMO at the hackathon were four teams, two of which won in their respective tracks and passed into the finals. One of them, Golden PSZh, became the all-round winner of Russia’s first large-scale hackathon on digitalization in the field of tourism. Right now, the students are in discussions on incorporating their system into a potential customer’s operations. ITMO.STARS 2019 Winners: Who They Are and Why They Chose ITMO
This year, the ITMO.STARS competition for prospective students with unique accomplishments was held by ITMO for the second time in a row. It lets the winners join ITMO even if their Unified State Exam score wouldn’t normally allow them to. The only formal criterion is to pass the minimal Unified State Exam points threshold. This year saw twice as many applications as the previous one. Among the winners are 15 participants from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Chelyabinsk, Pskov, Abakan, and other cities. They told ITMO.NEWS how to land a job at VK in your school years, how to open your own video studio, and why you shouldn't underestimate yourself.

Results of ITMO University’s Admissions Campaign 2019
The 2019 admissions campaign at ITMO University has come to an end, and the lists of students admitted into Bachelor’s and Master’s programs have been published. The entrants of this year’s Bachelor’s programs have exhibited traditionally high Unified State Exam scores: according to the Admissions Office, the average score per subject is 92.7 points, which is 2.5 higher than it was last year. A large percentage of 2019’s Master’s entrants are graduates of other Russian universities.
