I Am a Professional is a national competition for students of all fields – from humanities to engineering. Winners receive diplomas, as well as advantages when enrolling into Master’s and PhD programs, monetary prizes, and internship opportunities at major Russian companies. This year, ITMO is organizing three core tracks in partnership with Sberbank: Robotics, Programming & IT, and Information & Cyber Security, as well as a corporate track titled Technological Entrepreneurship in collaboration with VEEROUTE. We talked to the winners of last year’s Robotics track and asked them about the best ways to prepare for the contest and the importance of not underestimating your strengths.
The university will be in charge of three key tracks: Robotics, Programming and Information Technologies, and Information and Cybersecurity, as well as corporate track Technology Entrepreneurship (jointly with Gazprom Neft). Sberbank will act as the main partner of ITMO’s tracks. The contest is supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation as part of the Social Elevators for Everyone initiative of the national project Education.
The final results of the fourth I am a Professional contest were announced last month. Five of the contest tracks were hosted by ITMO University together with Sberbank. We asked some of these tracks’ prize winners and ITMO students who participated in the event to share their thoughts on this year’s contest.
Five tracks of this year’s I’m a Professional contest were organized by ITMO University. The winners will receive monetary prizes and benefits when entering Master’s and PhD studies at leading Russian universities, including ITMO.
This year, ITMO University held the It’s Your Call! student educational forum for the fourth time. The forum is part of the I am a Professional student contest, where ITMO oversees five competitional tracks. On Saturday, May 15, the best teams presented the projects they had been developing for five days. ITMO.NEWS visited the contest’s final and talked to the forum’s winners.
The It’s Your Call educational forum, which will be held online on May 11, will feature experts from SberBank, Yandex, and Orbita Capital Partners who will discuss the latest trends in machine learning, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, and technological entrepreneurship.

In total, there are now five tracks from ITMO University in the contest: Information and Cybersecurity, Programming and Information Technologies, Robotics, Machine Learning, and the new track Technology Entrepreneurship.
The Art & Science Master’s program welcomes 22 new students from St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Kazakhstan, and India.
More than 90 students of ITMO University have been named winners of the national competition I Am a Professional, 19 of them receiving the top prize as medal winners. All of the students will not only gain renown, but also significant advantages when enrolling in Master’s and PhD programs of the competition’s partner universities, an opportunity to do an internship at some of Russia’s top companies, and a monetary prize of 100,000 to 300,000 rubles.
