  • ITMO University Climbs 100 Positions in QS Computer Science & Information Systems Subject Ranking

    QS has revealed today its 2018 World University Rankings by Subject. This year, one of the most influential rankings in the world reviewed the performance of over 1,000 universities from 151 countries. QS researchers ranked the universities in 48 subjects and five general subject areas. ITMO University is now present in three subject rankings and, for the first time ever, is included in the Engineering & Technology subject area. ITMO’s highest position is in the Computer Science & Information Systems ranking, where it has gone up by 100 spots as compared to last year.

  • ITMO-Developed Nanoparticle Technology Helps Stop Internal Bleeding

    Scientists from ITMO University have developed magnetically-driven nanoparticles containing thrombin. A drug based on these nanoparticles can be injected intravenously and delivered straight to the site of a vascular injury to stop internal bleeding. It can accelerate local clot formation and reduce overall blood loss by up to 15 times. The nanoparticles are not toxic to humans and can potentially be used for safe treatment. The results were published in Scientific Reports.

  • How an ITMO Student Helped Develop 5G Networks in EU

    Anton Gusarov, a PhD student at the High-Performance Computing Department, spent nearly three weeks working on the European Union’s project SILIKA as a visiting researcher at the Chalmers University of Technology. The project aims to establish a technological foundation for next-gen 5G mobile networks. Funded by the EC Horizon 2020 program, it involves scientists from Sweden, the Netherlands, and Belgium, as well as representatives of major companies.

  • METANANO-2018 Conference: How to Participate and What to Expect

    The International Conference on Metamaterials and Nanophotonics METANANO 2018 will be held for the third time on September 17-21 in Sochi. Scientists from all around the world will come together to discuss the latest scientific discoveries and achievements; approximately half of the event’s guests will come from foreign universities and research centers. The METANANO conference is becoming increasingly popular due to its large scientific scope. New tools don’t just make things easier, but offer a new outlook on the challenges faced by researchers in humanities. The algorithm chooses which videos to embed the client’s advertisements in so that they fit the needs of its viewers. NativeOS is currently preparing for a full-on launch on the US market.
