ITMO Scientists Develop Code-Free Platform for Genetic Studies
Master’s students at ITMO have designed GenomeAI – a cloud-based platform for conducting genetic studies that requires no programming skills. The tool is simple to use and allows users to run the entire cycle of genetic analysis within a single interface. To secure data, the platform employs a multi-level security system similar to that used in the banking sector. It is designed for small laboratories, biotech companies, and research centers. The team is ready for a test run and looking for industrial partners.

ITMO Master’s Students Develop Russia’s First Monitoring and Cyberprotection System for AI
Created by ITMO Master’s students in collaboration with experts from Raft, HiveTrace is the first Russian system that protects AI from cyberattacks. The new system it mitigates 70% of the most common vulnerabilities and protects generative-AI web apps from prompt injections, confidential data leaks, excessive agency of LLM systems, and other threats. Moreover, HiveTrace is compatible with any open-source or closed AI models – this means it can be implemented by tech, financial, telecom, and other companies and tailored to their security policies.

ITMO Developers Release AI Recruitment Assistant for Civil Servants
Developers from ITMO’s Laboratory of Intelligent Services and Applications (LISA), in collaboration with specialists of St. Petersburg’s Committee for Informatization and Communications, created an AI service that analyzes applications for civil service jobs. The algorithm accelerates candidate selection and is already being field-tested at St. Petersburg’s administration.

ITMO Humanities Students Participate in AI Thesis Initiative
ITMO has joined the federal project by Yandex Education and Higher School of Economics that aims to introduce AI into the graduation thesis workflow. Within the project, students and lecturers learned to apply AI tools, primarily YandexGPT, for routine tasks such as analyzing sources, structuring information, visualizing data, and working with text.

ITMO – In Top Three of AI Alliance's Ranking of Universities in AI
AI Alliance has published its annual university ranking that evaluates the quality of AI training in Russia. In 2025, ITMO secured its leading position, landing among the top three universities, alongside the Higher School of Economics (HSE) and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). The organization evaluated a total of 203 universities, which were divided into 13 groups from А++ to Е+.

More than 300 educators from Russian universities have completed an AI-focused professional development program at ITMO. ITMO and Gazprom Neft to Jointly Develop AI Education in Russia
ITMO University and Gazprom Neft have launched a higher education program in AI under the federal top grant. The Bachelor’s program will help produce a new generation of specialists for the digital economy and industrial companies. The training will begin on September 1 as part of the Russian national project on training AI experts.

ITMO’s New AI Model Analyzes Papers 90 Times Faster
Researchers from ITMO University and Lomonosov Moscow State University have rolled out NanoMINER – a multi-agent system that automatically extracts and processes data from scientific papers on nanomaterials and nanozymes. The algorithm analyzes each text in one minute, whereas doing it manually takes an average of 90 minutes. NanoMINER shows an impressive accuracy rate of up to 98% and can accelerate research in materials science, bionanotechnologies, and other fields. The results of the study are published in npj Computational Materials.
