  • This Weekend in St. Petersburg: December 8-9

Now that we’re approaching the thick of December, there are more and more winter events on the horizon. Here’s our separate overview of those, but for the time being, we’re proclaiming our weekend guide an (almost) festive-free zone (you’re welcome). • This Weekend in St. Petersburg: December 1-2

Hello winter, our old friend, who loves to overstay its welcome and never cleans up its mess when it finally decides to bid its adieus. This weekend’s program is relatively unwinter-y, though, giving us the last respite before the festive season rolls in. Please meet: a huge design celebration, an international festival of eco-cinema, a nature-themed photo exhibition, an artisanal fair, and an adopt-don’t-shop event for people thinking of getting a pet!

So what’s so special about this “Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography”? What makes it so disturbing?

  • Unexplored St. Petersburg: Tauride Palace Orangery

Lately, we’ve been writing about places that offer some unique form of entertainment; well, today’s story is not like that. Despite its fancy name, the Tauride Palace Orangery might seem a bit too plain in comparison with such spots as Annenkirche or the Museum of Sound: a 20th-century greenhouse packed with what I’d call overgrown houseplants. Still, after only a short visit, I just can’t resist writing about the place.
