Home of Future Leaders: ITMO’s Advanced Engineering School Opens New Site
On November 1, one of the university’s buildings at Lomonosova St. 9 was officially reopened after renovation. Its seven labs, two coworking spaces, and the office of ITMO’s Advanced Engineering School are already available to students and staff. The building will serve as a venue for research and joint projects with the school’s partners. At the official opening ceremony, it was also announced that the school will be the first Advanced Engineering School in Russia to have its own endowment fund.

New Technology for Drug- and Enzyme-Delivery Fluorescent Microparticles Suggested at ITMO
Researchers from ITMO, St. Petersburg Academic University and the Institute for Analytical Instrumentation of the RAS have developed a technology for producing fluorescent microparticles with nanocrystals based on silver, indium, and sulfur. Compared to traditional organic pigments, such particles are less toxic and more resistant to laser radiation. These can be used in biomedicine to visualize blood vessels from the inside, determine the blood flow, and as carriers of treatments and enzymes. The results of the study are published in ACS Omega.

Three ITMO Researchers Win Yandex ML Prize
Recently, the Russian tech giant Yandex announced the results of its annual Yandex ML Prize, an award for researchers who contribute to the development of machine learning and train new talents in the field. This year, 14 researchers were honored with the award, including three from ITMO University. All winners will receive awards ranging from 500,000 to 1 million rubles. Not Just Sphinxes and the Hermitage: Scientific Symbol of St. Petersburg Selected
The results of the project school in scientific souvenirs’ design in St. Petersburg have been announced. Participants of the school worked on their logos and souvenirs to be recognized as the city’s new scientific symbols, alongside its signature landmarks. Winners received monetary prizes, as well as an opportunity to release their own limited-edition merch. The contest was held by ITMO’s Center for Science Communication, with support from St. Petersburg's Foundation for Support of Innovations and Youth Initiatives.

ITMO Students to Apply Generative AI in Territorial Development Modeling
ITMO University has partnered with Rocket Group, the developer and integrator of the rTIM AI-based territory modeling platform, to create an educational module on genAI applications in spatial development. The new module will be implemented as part of the course Data Analysis and Modeling in Urban Studies.
