• ITMO Researchers Teach Robots to Run Chemical Experiments

  ITMO University experts are creating technological assistants for chemical laboratories that will be able to take over all routine work with no human involvement needed. Right now, the first prototypes are already performing the simplest manipulations. In the future, robotic chemists will be able to run their own research for accumulating large amounts of data and performing primary analysis.

• Researchers from ITMO and University of Toronto Develop Non-Antibiotic Material to Fight Infection and Mend Wounds

  In the future, the material could be used in the production of wound dressings that would hold their own even against antibiotic-resistant bacteria. An article on the results of the research was published in Chemistry of Materials.

  Those are polycrystals of a functional organic material called melamine-barbiturate. This material is interesting because of its crystal structure. All of its molecules are almost of the same size and are connected by hydrogen bonds placed at an angle of 120º.
