  • ITMO Solution Prevents Counterfeiting of Glass Products

    Researchers from ITMO University have suggested a method of creating colored patterns with an affordable, domestically-produced laser. Compared to others, the new method makes it possible to create smaller separate patterns within a single bigger one, which are harder to forge. The technology, described in an article published in Optics and Laser Technology, will help prevent production of counterfeit glass products, such as medical vials and test tubes.

    Over 400 visitors of the recent ITMO.GameDev Day conference tested 18 video and board games created by students of Russian universities while learning more about game development by the industry’s leading experts. The event was organized by ITMO’s Game Development School.

  • Map of the Siege: A Project Uniting Besieged Leningrad and Contemporary St. Petersburg

    A new project, developed by a team involving ITMO students, delves into the history of Leningrad during its siege in WWII. It’s a digital map of the city with geotags based on diaries kept by locals at that time. Having analyzed over 500 entries, the researchers were able to visualize the life of the city under siege. Using the map, users can look up a particular area of the city or read entries from a specific age group. Learn more about the project and its prospects in this article.

  • ITMO Scientists Unveil Algorithm to Predict Properties of Organic Solvents

    The staff of ITMO’s Center for AI in Chemistry have designed a free service that predicts properties of organic solvents. These substances find their applications in pharmaceutical, oil, and cosmetics industries. The research behind the algorithm is described in a paper published in Green Chemistry.

    ITMO Accelerator helps young entrepreneurs develop their projects from ideas to first revenue through courses on business strategy and marketing, mentorship, and opportunities to communicate with potential investors. This year, the Accelerator expanded its partner network, adding Uralsib, Investment and Venture Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan, Gazprom Neft, and Netology.
