  • ITMO Student’s Smart Toothbrush Concept Wins National Stage of James Dyson Award

    Artemii Zenkin, a Master’s student at ITMO University, and Anastasia Balabanova, a student of the St. Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design, have developed a design for a smart toothbrush capable of monitoring its owner’s health. The project brought its creators a win at the Russian national stage of the James Dyson Award competition.

  • ITMO Graduate Wins National Theses Competition

    Vadim Rybin, a Bachelor's graduate of the Faculty of Photonics and Optical Information, won the national competition of theses called Be First in the Physics and Astronomy category. Now, Vadim is pursuing a Master’s degree. He discussed his thesis and scientific interests with ITMO.NEWS, and also told us how he created the “It’s a trap” student club, whose members are engaged in the study of ion traps.

  • ITMO University Co-Hosts Machine Learning Cup for School Students From Samara

    Participants of the event attended lectures by industry experts and designed assignments for each other. For example, some were tasked with creating a bot that would emulate the classic authors of Russian literature, while others – a bot capable of identifying the language used in online comments.

  • UMNIK-ITMO Innovative Project Competition Application Period is Now Open

    ITMO University together with the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises have announced the launch of the UMNIK-ITMO competition. Students and PhD researchers, young scientists and entrepreneurs working in the field of digital economics are welcome to participate. The best ideas will get 500,000 rubles in funding.   • “I Am a Professional”: Competition Winners on Experience Gained and Opportunities Discovered

    More than 90 students of ITMO University have been named winners of the national competition I Am a Professional, 19 of them receiving the top prize as medal winners. All of the students will not only gain renown, but also significant advantages when enrolling in Master’s and PhD programs of the competition’s partner universities, an opportunity to do an internship at some of Russia’s top companies, and a monetary prize of 100,000 to 300,000 rubles. ITMO.NEWS met with some of this year’s winners to find out what brought them to the competition, how difficult they found the final tasks, and what opportunities they’ve discovered through this experience.
