Russian Team Claims Four Gold Medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics 2023
Participating under a neutral flag, a team of Russian school students brought home a haul of four gold medals at the recent International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI). The competition took place in Hungary and drew contestants from over 90 countries. The team was coached by Andrey Stankevich, an associate professor at ITMO’s Information Technologies and Programming Faculty, and Alexey Maleev, the head of the IT Education Development Center at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT).

ITMO Welcomes New PhD Students From Over 20 Countries
ITMO University has summed up the results of this year’s admission campaign. In 2023, applications for PhD programs went up 35% from the previous admissions season, reaching the highest recorded number in recent years. Another area of significant increase was enrollment of international students – this fall, the university welcomes PhD students from 24 countries across Europe, Asia, and the CIS.

First Stone Laid at ITMO Highpark Construction Site
On August 30, Valery Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Alexander Beglov, the Governor of St. Petersburg, and Vladimir Vasilyev, the Rector of ITMO University, laid the first stone to mark the start of the construction of ITMO Highpark. During the ceremony, a robot manipulator placed an AI-generated message from students, researchers, and lecturers into the grounds of the future world-class research, education, and innovation center.
