ITMO University Among Interfax’s Top 10 Russian Universities
The results of Interfax news agency’s 9th National University Ranking have recently been published. In the ranking, ITMO University has successfully kept its position in the top-10. It is the second best in the country in the Internationalization criteria and fourth in Research. A total of 288 universities were assessed as part of the ranking, which is 23 more than in 2017.

ITMO University Climbs 100 Positions in QS Computer Science & Information Systems Subject Ranking
QS has revealed today its 2018 World University Rankings by Subject. This year, one of the most influential rankings in the world reviewed the performance of over 1,000 universities from 151 countries. QS researchers ranked the universities in 48 subjects and five general subject areas. ITMO University is now present in three subject rankings and, for the first time ever, is included in the Engineering & Technology subject area. ITMO’s highest position is in the Computer Science & Information Systems ranking, where it has gone up by 100 spots as compared to last year.

Webometrics-2018: Russian Universities Strengthen Positions
Once every six months, the results of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities are published. In the latest ranking, ITMO University has improved its global position, rising to 783rd place while still remaining the sixth top Russian university.

Top 2 Among Engineering Universities
The project “Social Navigator” of the news agency “Rossiya Segodnya” has unveiled this year’s national ranking of Russian universities (link in Russian), analysing each institution’s demand in the Russian economy. The research took into account 448 universities organized into six core groups, including classical universities and those in the fields of engineering, agriculture, humanities, medicine and management. As with last year, ITMO University came second in the ranking of engineering universities. Also in the top three are Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI, 1st place), and Bauman Moscow State Technical University (3rd place).

ITMO Tops Science Popularisation Ranking
Indicator, a popular science site, has recently come up with a science popularisation ranking. It has evaluated effectiveness of PR activities of universities participating in Project 5-100 in the first half of 2017. The results were based on a questionnaire developed by Indicator, which was filled out by staff members of the universities’ PR-departments. ITMO topped this ranking, receiving 36 points out of 39 possible. Tomsk Polytechnic University (35 points), Higher School of Economics (35 points) and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (34 points) came second and third in the ranking, accordingly.

ITMO University Debuts in THE Physical Sciences Ranking
The results of this year’s Times Higher Education (THE) subject ranking in Physical Sciences have been unveiled at a press conference as part of the 22nd seminar-conference of Project 5-100. The Physical Sciences ranking was presented by THE’s team of top officials and Editorial Director Phil Baty. ITMO University made its debut in the ranking, placing 401-500.

QS BRICS 2017: ITMO Named Amongst 20% Best Universities
In the recently published QS BRICS 2017 ranking, ITMO University showed great results by moving from 101st to 75th position among Russian universities, thus entering 20% of BRICS top universities. Among the factors that contributed to this rapid rise were an increase in indicators related to academic and employer reputation, publications in international journals and the amount of international staff and students.

KronBars Tops List of Russia's Best Student Sports Clubs
ITMO University’s student sports club KronBars has topped the ranking of Russian student sports clubs. Association of Student Sports Clubs of Russia (ASSC) published the ranking on its web-site. The ranking accounts for the clubs’ activities from September 2016 to August 2017. It includes 56 participants from 8 federal districts of Russia. In addition to that, this year’s ranking will be a part of the finalists’ qualification criteria in the contest "Best Student Sports Club of 2016-2017 Academic Year". The contest will be held in Kazan in late November.

ITMO Codes Its Way to Top of Academic Excellence Project 5-100
Today representatives of ITMO University presented the university’s Road Map for the implementation of the 5-100 Russian Academic Excellence Project. 16 out of 21 universities that participate in the project have presented their Road Maps to the Council on Competitiveness Enhancement of Leading Russian Universities. The Council’s sessions will be held on October 27 to 28 at the Sverdlovsk Oblast Governor’s Residence in Yekaterinburg. Among the top-performing universities are HSE, ITMO University, MEPhI, MIPT, NSU, MISiS and Tomsk State University.

ITMO up by 15 places in QS EECA University Rankings
The results of Quacquarelli Symonds’s ranking of the top universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia have been unveiled. This ranking, published since 2014, includes 251 universities from 20 countries. There are 74 Russian universities on the list, of which 13 are in the top-50. ITMO University has once again showed upward growth, moving up by 15 positions and placing 66th.
