A 700-meter-long area of the highway from the interchange towards Kondakopshino and up to the administrative border of St. Petersburg will be equipped with six lanes, 4.5-meter-wide sidewalks, and a bike lane. Bus stops will also be added for the public transport to be launched on the highway.
Alexander Beglov, the Governor of St. Petersburg, has stated that all the conditions necessary for the construction of ITMO Highpark, including its accessibility by transport, have been accounted for in the new strategic plan for the development of the city.
ITMO Highpark is a world-class research and educational center currently under construction in the south of St. Petersburg. The complex will include a campus for the university’s Master’s and PhD students, a techno valley, and a business park for tech enterprises. The construction is carried out in collaboration with the Russian Government and the Government of St. Petersburg as part of the national program Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation.
In late August 2023, Valery Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Alexander Beglov, the Governor of St. Petersburg, and Vladimir Vasilyev, the Rector of ITMO University, laid the first stone to mark the start of the construction of ITMO Highpark. ITMO Highpark’s first construction stage is slated to be completed in 2025. It will include the main academic building, several dormitories, and a power distribution center; the buildings’ total area will be 66,500 square meters.
