The Round University Ranking system was created with the goal of allowing students, members of the academia, university management, and state officials to evaluate and choose universities based on their personal requirements.
In 2021, the RUR Technical Sciences World University Ranking includes 80 Russian universities. Last year, ITMO was, too, ranked highest among 66 Russian universities. In the global ranking, ITMO has moved from the 92nd to the 41st place. Overall, this year’s ranking includes 790 leading universities in the field of technical sciences from all over the world.
RUR also includes rankings that cover the period from 2010 and till the present. Over its 11 years of existence, the rankings have evaluated activities of 1,100 leading universities from 85 countries using 20 indicators within 4 areas: teaching, research, international diversity, and financial sustainability. In this year’s technical sciences ranking, ITMO has shown particularly great performances in the teaching (22nd place) and financial sustainability (95th place) areas.
All in all, the RUR ranking system includes six general subject rankings (in natural sciences, technical sciences, humanities, life sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences), 20 rankings based on specific performance indicators, as well as a number of additional rankings such as the RUR Academic Rankings and RUR Reputation Rankings.
